So Short But Special
We’re both running out
Of time I thought
Speak for yourself
She said
I nodded
Half lost
In her gaze
I wanted to confess to her
Like I couldn’t
With any other
I wanted to undress her
Like I couldn’t
With any other
She laughed at my tomfoolery
In her semi-clandestine mind
Ridiculing my absurdity
But giving it thrift-thought
She nodded
Half lost
In my gaze
She toasted us
As if we were coconuts
As if we were lost sheep
As if we really mattered
We nodded
Half lost
In our eternal gaze
Of time I thought
Speak for yourself
She said
I nodded
Half lost
In her gaze
I wanted to confess to her
Like I couldn’t
With any other
I wanted to undress her
Like I couldn’t
With any other
She laughed at my tomfoolery
In her semi-clandestine mind
Ridiculing my absurdity
But giving it thrift-thought
She nodded
Half lost
In my gaze
She toasted us
As if we were coconuts
As if we were lost sheep
As if we really mattered
We nodded
Half lost
In our eternal gaze
