Naked Winter
The leaves of Autumn have fallen
Nature is caught up in winter's naked embrace
The winds don't sing a winter song
Instead they blow and moan
Crying the blues
While the shadows of trees
Lay down upon the season's first snow
Trees that reach their boney fingers towards the sky
A plea for mercy, in solemn prayer
The bitter wind cuts deep and nothing is as cruel
As a winter that exposes everything naked and bare
And lays a heavy burden on backs and shoulders
The sun's power has seemed to have drained away
A solitary brittle brown leaf clings to a branch
It shivers in the wind refusing to surrender,
Barely hanging on, but refusing to let go
Underneath a sky of blue
Seasons slowly change clothes
But for now
We are deep in the mist of naked winter
Where we shiver and shake
And like the solitary leaf
Hope is all we have
Nature is caught up in winter's naked embrace
The winds don't sing a winter song
Instead they blow and moan
Crying the blues
While the shadows of trees
Lay down upon the season's first snow
Trees that reach their boney fingers towards the sky
A plea for mercy, in solemn prayer
The bitter wind cuts deep and nothing is as cruel
As a winter that exposes everything naked and bare
And lays a heavy burden on backs and shoulders
The sun's power has seemed to have drained away
A solitary brittle brown leaf clings to a branch
It shivers in the wind refusing to surrender,
Barely hanging on, but refusing to let go
Underneath a sky of blue
Seasons slowly change clothes
But for now
We are deep in the mist of naked winter
Where we shiver and shake
And like the solitary leaf
Hope is all we have
