Set Me Free
Depression can take you
Farther than those stones
It’s the emptiness of it all
Laying here in this field alone
Feathers that you left behind
I keep for wings of my own
Until I find the courage to fly
I hear the September wind
Blowing gently in my mind
Like reruns of you and me
Just kids lost along the way
I find comfort in them all
But they won’t set me free
Set me free
It’s more than the chain I bear
I wear this cross around my neck
Not a souvenir for the world to see
A reminder so the angels won’t forget
How your love filled this world
How empty it is now that you’re gone
It’s been hell here since they took you away
I hear the September wind
Blowing gently in my mind
Like reruns of you and me
Just kids lost along the way
I find comfort in them all
But they won’t set me free
Set me free
(Instrumental)
Like reruns of you and me
Just kids lost along the way
I find comfort in them all
But they won’t set me free
Set me free
Farther than those stones
It’s the emptiness of it all
Laying here in this field alone
Feathers that you left behind
I keep for wings of my own
Until I find the courage to fly
I hear the September wind
Blowing gently in my mind
Like reruns of you and me
Just kids lost along the way
I find comfort in them all
But they won’t set me free
Set me free
It’s more than the chain I bear
I wear this cross around my neck
Not a souvenir for the world to see
A reminder so the angels won’t forget
How your love filled this world
How empty it is now that you’re gone
It’s been hell here since they took you away
I hear the September wind
Blowing gently in my mind

Like reruns of you and me

But they won’t set me free
Set me free
