A Party for the Cursed
I called Casper and told him to get his sheet together,
I’m hosting a party for those who have been cursed,
We’ll dance and eat some monster mashed potatoes,
Along with deviled eggs and you bet I’ll bring my wurst.
I bought some Carolina Reapers and Ghost Peppers,
I’m making ghoulash for those ghouls who like it hot,
If you’re vegetarian there’s ear of corn and head of lettuce,
But if you’re vegan I’ll need to give it more thought.
You can snack on sandwitches and perhaps lady fingers,
Maybe some worms, earth or gummy? I’ll have to check,
Like fruits? I got black, blue, cran-, rasp, straw, and Boysen…
Well let’s just say I can have you berried up to your neck.
Here only for the libations? Well it’s an open invitation,
Come on, gather round for some drinks and some boos,
The vamps like the blood orange and poison apple punch,
But I enjoy eyes cream while watching everybody schmooze.

Yes, yes, yes. I am the first to comment. YAY!!! First of all, I totally love the way you wrote this piece and the comedic tone along with the misspelling and pronunciation of the words you chose to use. I love the volumes of humor you have exploded. I am almost jealous that I didn't think of this but you know what I am also inspired to write you a rebuttal and invite you to my party. Happy Halloween!!! Joe D

Joe-D, thank you for your kind comment and for adding to your RL. I like to add humor to these Halloween themed poems. I'm glad it inspired you to write as well.
Thank you.
Thank you.

I usually use blood and guts for my Halloween pieces but there are times where I try to be humorous but it just doesn't always work out. I guess I need to replace my funny bone. Hahahaha

Awesome work Joe-D. I've never been one to get into the spirit of it (growing up in a strict religious family) but now as an adult, I have to admit, I like writing about the genre.
You did a great job with yours.

We may not have a say about certain things when we are kids but when we grow up into full adults then that's when we get to experience all the great stuff we were forced to miss out on. I always loved Halloween even as a kid. This is a great genre to write about and doesn't have to be gory and offensive. If you have humor and an opened mind like yours you can see past all these dirty things and really see Halloween for its true potential. Having fun with costume dress ups and getting all the candy you can possibly get.

Wally, why in the heck is this tagged with an ECW?! Did I miss something about someone bobbing for apples in a woodchipper ..?
"But if you’re vegan I’ll need to give it more thought."
LMAO

The ECW may have been my bad. I sometimes tend to think I might insult someone with my crude sense of humor, in this case, the vegans.
Glad it made you laugh. Hope you're enjoying the season.

Thanks Wally for adding my little rebuttal poem to your RL. I hope you enjoyed it and wasn't very mad

Of course I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a great compliment when a poet is told he/she has inspired another.

Well, you know me and my affinity wordplay and rhyme.
I went to farm a few days ago to pick pumpkins, and they had a section with so many different types of berries, I was amazed.
Hope you're enjoying the season.

Dear W,
Ghoulishly delightful. Clever beyond infinity. “ But I enjoy eyes cream while watching everybody schmooze.” only one of my favorite phrases! I’d have to cut and paste the whole thing if I’m truthful. Wonderful read. Happy Halloween. H🌷

Dear Honoria, thanks for adding to your RL! I'm glad you enjoyed. I have to admit, growing up I never really celebrated Halloween. Now as an adult, I enjoy writing about and having some fun with it.
