The soldier
Hey boy listen, here’s the plan,
Be a soldier, be a man,
Open your eyes, heed the call,
Don’t you know there is a war?
Strangers across: road, river or sea,
Are now your mortal enemy,
Get angry, rage, make a fist,
Duty calls, time to enlist,
Swear an oath, sign a form,
You’re now a man in uniform,
The order announced, once again,
Board a wagon, ship or plane,
The hour is nigh, it has begun,
Grab your spear or sword or gun,
They say fight bravely, do not yield,
Prevail upon the battlefield,
But in reality, it’s one great lie,
You’re cannon fodder sent to die.
