the dying of the light
in my innocence, I wept
for the dying of my light inside me
troubling times on the horizon
our maker looks on
the horses of the apocalypse are riding
the day wore her storms like curses
darker and darker still
the people groan under the weight
tumultuously the world evolves in wisdom
humanity still in its infancy
looks to the heavens for answers
plagues, climate change, war
the oppressed rise
the elite are shaken in their houses
an uprising, a revolt
disenchanted children of the millennium cry out
as the seventh angel pours another vial
Revelations foretold the New World Order
surreal reality makes me do a double-take
I never thought to see these days
I tremble inside myself
but I will take a stand
the light inside me shall not be extinguished
I will fight against the dying of the light in all of us

Wonderful write! Confusion is the order of the day for anyone with a brain. You expressed that very well. I interpret the light to be the light of reason and common sense. Very difficult to keep clear in today’s environment! BTW, Dylan Thomas would be proud, though his “dying of the light” was a totally different context. Super poetry C. Best. A.

Re. the dying of the light
Dear B,
“I wept
for the dying of my light inside me”
“I will fight against the dying of the light in all of us ”
Please do!
Each day feels just the tiniest bit darker and I know it’s a defeatist attitude, having a life you thought you had totally upended and be not what you thought.
It is like walking on burning stones everyday and wondering if the walk is worth it? Always on the offense in case you have to make a run for it. Sad way to live out ones days but somewhat hopeful knowing someone out there believes in your ability to make it past the darkness. I’m sure that’s way off point but reading this made me go rogue, personal and dark. Great write. H🌷

These are troubled times... but we are resilient and the world isn't ending. I believe change is coming, and although it won't be easy, for those with eyes open to see it, it will be beautiful.
Great hope and determination in this write...

It's a power write crimsin, knowing that there has been famine in many parts of the world for some time, now with this pestilence and death going around world wide, it's scary that the next horse man will come.
"I tremble inside myself" I think it's a real feeling many of us have, knowing how unstable governments and nations can be, but I love that you ended the piece with a positive note. We will fight along with you.

Takes a strong person to stand up for the light, especially these days. I admire you for that and thank you for

thank you dearest Johnny forgive me for not seeing this comment earlier I have to admit I spent years glorifying the darkness and still to this day falter in and out of the light... when I first started to be inspired to write about the light it was hard for me to post here but it's on my mind heart to do so I deeply appreciate your thoughts go with your heart when you write and it will be great ❤

I find for myself a balance between light and dark but always make sure I end it with the light to remind me what I'm there for. Thank you

Beautifully and sensitively rendered Brenda. It's very relatable, we're all in this together, stand or fall. We have to carry on, for those who cannot. 💖
