Little Piece of Paradise
Home wasn't always
behind lock and key.
White Coat claims to be in charge
And he thinks I'M crazy.
Caged by sterile white walls
The Imperfections, my friends
Visiting when darkness falls
They're real, not pretend!
A dirty glass square
Framed in solid wood
Thick iron bars installed
to impair the outside view
Gazing past the iron
into the outside world
"my little piece of paradise"
infiltrates my mind
A rusted iron fence,
the boundary of my dream
green grass and flowers beds
sadness hovers, I refuse to scream
The smell of Autumn
my shaggy dogs wet hair
a Sunday BBQ,
free without a care
A sandpit full of toys,
Kissing my mum's cheek
It's just not fair!
To me, she refuses to speak.
The sound of the mower,
dad's preparing for the match
Cricket of course!
competing for the catch
Family gatherings
enjoying the sunshine
Memories of my paradise
becoming harder to find
Playing in the mud
dirty from head to toe
Laughing as a family
Now, I'm just rocking two and fro
Our family created
an everlasting bond
never will it be broken
Though I... alone
Disappearing in the blink of an eye
Concerned about their whereabouts?
Doubting Thomas, am I?
Left on holidays, they did not DIE.
Desperate to break free
from this distorted jail
Longing to see my mummy and daddy
Their scent I'll once again inhale
Where is teddy
My wall friends are calling
I'm hungry
Is dinner ready
When I remember, tears form and
I stare out the window
Remembering my time
in my little patch of paradise
And I, alone
behind lock and key.
White Coat claims to be in charge
And he thinks I'M crazy.
