I've held many positions of leadership/management. If I wasn't willing to do it, how could I ask/expect someone else to? I always worked beside my people. I spoke to them (not at them). I hired people who knew more than I, so we could learn /grow together as a team. I listened, and sometimes that required me to apologize. Some leaders/ management I've worked under, had the idea that separating themselves from the rest of us was better. I personally found that to have just the opposite affect. It's hard to respect/trust someone who won't get their hands dirty with you.
