Remembering You On Mothers' Day

I can never thank you enough
For all the sacrifices you made  
On my behalf
 
From the time you conceived me
To the time you delivered me
Into this world
 
For nine long months  
You carried me in your womb
Ensuring my safety and health
 
There were mornings  
When bearing me made you sick
And you had to stay in bed
 
Sometimes you skipped your meals
Because you were nauseated  
From their smell
 
My presence in your body
Made you feel crazy things
And abnormal cravings
 
Yet you endured it all
You loved me even before you saw me
That was how strong our bond was
 
The early years of my life were hard on you
You had many sleepless nights because of me
You were quick to attend to me when I cried  
 
You provided all my needs  
Took care of my every whims
And tolerated my tantrums
 
I never understood you then
Never saw how great you were
Never appreciated all the things you did for me
 
I was a child needing  warmth and comfort
And you provided all that unselfishly
Along with unlimited and unconditional love
 
I understand you better now
After being a mother myself
Who only wanted the best fo her child more than anything else
 
I would not be who I am today
If not because of you
All that I am I owe it to you
 
Today on Mother's day
Let me celebrate your greatness  
For all that you were to me
 
Wherever you are now I will always remember you
Not only on Mothers' Day
But for everyday of my life
 
Part of you is living in me
I carry you in my heart wherever I may be
I love you with no end just like your love for me
