Mom
When you carried me, I know I was a surprise
But you could not wait to see me anyway
So I wanted to hurry up so I could see you too
Now I am here in front of you, grown
You were the only one that could calm the world
By sharing your warmth with me and I will not forget
And I will always hurry to see you whenever I can
From the bottom of my heart, I love you
You are my compass and you have helped me so much
You are the reason for my big smile, scary or not
When you are with me it is some of my happiest times
You will always be in my heart and always be my hero
I will always miss you when you are not with me
I am trying to follow in your footsteps and it's hard
But I know I will always be your little girl anyway
I always want to see my reflection in your smiling eyes
You have helped me through so much and you will always
be the reason I have such a big smile,
I love you mom

Hi Kristina,
This is a very nice and touching tribute. I know we all have different and special relationships with our mothers but you gave us a glimpse at the love you share. There is a comp that just opened up and I think this would be a great entry.
Welcome to DUP.

Brava, Kristina! This is a beautiful tribute to your mom and a mother's love. The idea of rushing to her side is very touching. My mom is currently in need of support and comfort and it's so hard to do so, adequately, from a distance. Does your mom write poetry?

Thank you GW, I am glad you found it very touching. I am so sorry to hear that your mom is in need of support and that you cannot be there in person but I am sure she knows how much you want to be. I hope she feels better. Actually my mom is also dealing with something, medical, at the moment so I understand the need for support and comfort. She does not write poetry or at least not that I know of.

It is good he is going home but hopefully it will not be to much on your mom. My mom has an appointment on Friday and I always get anxious before those.
Why do you think they would trip? I definitely need to read more now. lol

Hi, Kris
Thank you for sharing this with me when I had not even visited it on this page. "Mom's the word" [not "mum's the word," in this case!]. Because mother means the world to me, your poem falls easily on my ear and into my heart. I daresay, your beloved mom would want to frame and hang this piece for easy retrieval, knowing that every time she saw the words the truths behind them were alive in her daughter's heart.
Obviously the product of a happy home, you find yourself returning to the evidence in these lines:
"You are the reason for my big smile" [stanza 3, line 2]
"I always want to see my reflection in your smiling eyes" [stanza 4, line 4]
"you will always/be the reason I have such a big smile" [stanza 5]
Who said you were not a poet or writer, anyway?!
In case you are not, your poem came out alright, nevertheless.
And that what makes you a poet and a writer -- weaving poetic eloquence from the heart and not from the head!
Yours sincerely

I am really happy you think it came out alright, especially considering it was the first thing I wrote here. :) If writing from the heart helps then that is something I am able to do. 💖 💖

A fitting tribute to your mom. I'm sure you made her day, month, year when she read this.
Like the lottery, the surprise was getting all the numbers, and hitting the $miilion plus poet / daughter. I'm sure she is the reason for your smile, she did pay for all those dentist visits! : )
Welcome to DUP. I think you got a chance at being a pretty good poet! : )

She definitely loved it. She was my first inspiration to post something here.
Wow, that is a really beautiful thing to say; I don't know what to say to that. xoxo ... Haha, oh yes the dental visits... Fortunately she taught me to take great care of my teeth.
lol, you really reached all the way back. But thanks for the Welcome. lol I don't know if I have a chance at all.

Wow, all the way back to the first poem. :) I have really opened up more since then... I am so happy you thought it was wonderfully written and touching. This poem means a lot to me because my Mom meant the world to me. Thank you so much for taking a moment to step back and share such wonderful feedback with me. I really appreciate it.
