The Ecstasy of Vengeance

 
Inside lies an emotion we despise
For in anger we tend to lose control
Some can find ecstasy in vengeance
Blissful but eating away at the soul

It’s the dark side of human nature
For in wrath there is no aim or goal
Only a pain that blinds us spiritually
Which then gradually takes its toll

The delight one feels right at that moment
Has a consequence somewhere down the road
For the pleasure found in another’s torment
Are just the seeds that were once sowed

Understanding the bad and the ugly
It’s a life lesson that can’t be told
But in time fate only makes us wait
So the rage fades away as we get old
