Image for the poem the sands of time shift

the sands of time shift

indigo kaleidoscope visions bloom before me
brittle bone emotions in blue
past errors in henna
they attest to my truths

enigma's love
I am a misfit
she knows me well
a riddle in a riddle

I want a long vacation from my thoughts
my mind never stops not even for the night
steeped in magic a steeple of denial

wings dipped in crimson lest I fly heavenward
escaping the Earth's damning plea
to be free from the day's pain
in my quiet times, I hear her cry
she travails a new age

I listen to the denizens whisper it's time
the hourglass says it's late
I weep not for the hour
but for the children lost on a sea of regret
