Are You Alive?

How will I know
If the virus has taken you Down?
If I keep calling you
Your phone will ring and ring
Until the number is as silent as you
To hold on
I will pretend you can't pay your bill
I will pay your bill
Just to keep hope alive
Even if you no longer are
How will I know?

I'll write you a poem
Every day you don't answer me
And imagine you reading
Every line of my rhyme
Maybe you are just mad at me
That's better than accepting the truth
Be angry at me
And let your feelings reach me
Be quiet, be still
but still be alive
How will I know?

Author's Note
Keep in touch with internet friends please! We don't get the obituaries from your hometown paper, let alone know where your hometown really is. In many ways we are mysteries to each other, but we still care. We value our friends here even though most of us never have spoken. Some only sign on occasionally and we long for your return. The possibility of death is ever present but especially so now. Consider the hearts of those you care about and message a friend who cares about you...
