ISOLATION
In times such as these it is important to
See the greater good being done for the greater population
Of this beautiful world we all call home
Leaving the confines of your home for selfish reasons is no more than an
Act of selfishness on the part of people who
Think only of themselves
Individuals who have been brought up with some false sense of entitlement
Only one thing can be done to stop this Virus in its tracks and
Not doing your part for the greater good defines your selfishness

If all would simply put there selfishness aside for just a bit it would make a world of difference

This pandemic has brought out the true nature of a certain sect of humanity... Those who are indifferent to the lives of others are the epitome of selfishness, and arguably humanity. On that same note, we also see great good come out of situations like these. I guess it's up to us which we decide to focus on...
I thought your poem was creative, honest, and relevant. You did a great job with this acrostic piece! Keep up the great work, Whiskey :)

Thank you NB for your supportive and kind words
It was something that just came out of the blue, I thought it and spilled it on the page. You are right both good and ad can be seen during and come out of situations like these, but this one has been different, this one changes the way these things are approached, this one is not only going to be an event in history, but i believe it is going to change the way things as this are handled in the future as well. And whether this time or the next, it is times like these when peoples true colors will show every time.
Thank you for taking some time to read my work and also to comment

the misconception here {south africa} is that this is an upper middle class problem... so we have the entitl'd panic buying & the disenfranchis'd out trying to find a party & the rest of us mildly shitting ourselves.
typical.
i do so love this poem, it mirrors so many ov my own thoughts leading to our period ov lockdown... the silent observation ov society falling apart unnecessarily... the social divide so obvious.
thank you for a wonderful read

You are welcome, Thank you for your wonderful comment
I am doing my part by going to work and staying in otherwise, although eventually i will have to restock on groceries, I hope the panic buying subsides some before i have to. Although I am doing my part I am on the fence about this whole situation. Don't get me wrong i know its serious, I am just numb to the panic that seems to be driven by media outlets world wide. I could be wrong and it could be as bad as they say, but i am also curious how they will base the success of the quarantine when all they have is what they "think it could have been" vs. the actual outcome at the end of the day. Either way I am going to stick to the isolation. Main reason is I pretty much live isolated to begin with so there is not much change, second reason is if it is that bad I definitely don't want it.
I do fear that this will become the new normal and it will turn into flu season lock down, and cold season lock down, and then oh fuck somebody sneezed lock down .
Thank you again for taking some time to stop by and read some of my stuff :)

Nice spill.
I’ve been struggling with feelings of selfishness because I’m not in the trenches (retired nurse).
I do my bit by isolating to protect my elderly parents.
My battles were AIDS, Hong Kong flu, SARS, H1N1, Zika...
There will always be new challenges.

This is a fact
There is no reason to feel selfish
This is a common feeling among soldiers and first responders. The feeling / need to be in the "fight" whatever it may be
You did your time kink, and are still doing the right thing, as most of do not isolate for ourselves but for others
