I need to write a fucking poem
—not a Captain Obvious
pirating La Santa Poetica;
but, a substantial armament
potent enough to shift
oceanic plates of belief
into something rabid
—a bottom prowler
foaming at the mouth—
hooked on the taste of poem
The blood jet is poetry
and there is no stopping it
because once infected
you're owned

Each half-day (even the occasional full-day) fishing trip,
i've always fished for the bottom feeders as they are the tastiest and deadliest!!
We will accept nothing less, Beautiful Sister!~!

Sounds like a good place to be - and of all the needs in the world, writing a poem is high up on the list - it is one of the means by which 'stories' will be reclaimed for future generations. This one should stand the test of time admirably because it is a gift coming from spirit which, when put out freely into the world, multiplies - like Nature - (the opposite of acquisition and hoarding, mentalities which are destroying our planet).
I see this poem as a rewilding of our language-scape - an act of true freedom has been completed - until the next time :))

Ahavati, wow! I absolutely loved this succinct little poem! It’s really great – and I’m not just saying that to make you feel good! To reiterate Paul’s sentiment in a more crude fashion… there aren’t many a’folk that can sit down on the loo for 5 minutes and lay a brick of solid gold. You are one of those people – LOL.
A wonderful and impressive show of brevity! Witty, and clever yet powerful and serious at the same time... a unique accomplishment of which many writers fail to find a balance. This poem is so incredibly written, and perfectly describes the struggle of any impassioned writer. I particularly enjoyed the seemingly silly, but ingenious analogy, with captain obvious at the wheel! I thought that part was particularly clever, and shows off your wonderful imagination... I mean, what's not to love about this creative analogy? 😊
Here is my own interpretation of your poem… speaking of the power of a poem:
A subtle, but powerful "armament" (perhaps an artillery of words?), which is enough to move the mountains of the mind and shake the very foundations of belief… that is, writing which touches you on such a deep level, and brings out such passion and fire in you that it leaves incredibly inspired; so much so, that you’re nearly … driven insane with the ache write again. Alas, it is the poet’s curse! Once you’re a poet, you can never go back… it’s in the blood! You will always feel the ache 😉
Wonderful spill, as per your usual! You’re a very talented writer, Ahavati. One of my favorites here, actually! It’s good to see that you’ve found a way to release some of that creative energy that’s been bubbling up inside… we wouldn’t want the pressure to become too great, lest your head fill with ideas and explode – lol.
Keep up the awesome writing, and best wishes to you, dear poetess... much love ❤️

Thank you, NB. That was a very lovely analysis. I always enjoy reading how others interpret what I write, and the time they take to share it.

I thought at first you had been reading Bukowski by the title, but I like the Sylvia Plath influence here, I really know the feeling. I do sort of have a crush on Captain Obvious, like he would be great at a party, its so cool that you mentioned him even if he is someone you were avoiding. I love your passion in your humor :)

Oh I read Bukowski, PR! He is one of my favorites; he's raw and honest. Thank you so much for sharing your observations. I had no idea you had a crush on Captain Obvious! LOL! Sometimes he is the easiest route, isn't he? :)

I don't think I've seen a poem of yours gather so many comments, likes and RL's so quickly before I even had a chance to comment on it, but the reasons why are evident - especially given how this bleeds from a soul passionate about poetry, starving for verse crafted with rich imagery from deep thought, that one might as well write such herself ( as she usually does ).
Seems as though the masses are yearning for such as well, perhaps burnt out like the daily servings of overdone toast they wake up to everyday from writers far too comfortable and not challenging themselves as well as their readers in the process.
What strikes me is how it transforms from something man-made to biological in an eye's blink, reminding us how a batch of chosen words takes on a life of its own and has the power to leave us deeply affected - even long after the writer is gone from the Earth.
This poem in particular is weaponized to leave an impact crater in the consciences of those who take poetry lightly; parlor magicians wowing party guests with slight of hand misdirection tricks while there is real wizardry with words going on in the world shaping society and history one poem at a time.
Well done! 📝❤

In a world where there is no new thing created, fresh poetry is indeed a well-spring of inspiration. I love how you always catch the nuances of change without me ever having to say a word. Your response is poetic in and of itself, and your love and support is always deeply appreciated. ❤

that title is life. absolute life and truth and no-one writes fucking poems quite like you do...
... there is always a punch to your words, something that clutches one's lungs and refuses to let go.
whether you're loquacious or brilliantly brief; i always find myself walking away with food for thought.
