Remote Control
To the man who starts a war
From the comfort of his vacation home
Killing has never been so convenient
As playing with your little drones
Never having to see the looks upon their faces
Or see the pain behind their eyes
As you bomb them in their birthplaces
Deaf to their desperate cries
Blind to the atrocities of war
Of the millions dying on the floor
Their children crying at our door
Such unimaginable gore
The smell of burning flesh
Is something you'll never have to smell
Sending soldiers to clean up the mess
As you hide inside your shell
Barking orders like an angry bird
Tweeting at the top of your lungs
Demanding to be heard
Yet not a word of truth is sung
I stare in disbelief
At our so-called commander in chief
It would bring such great relief
Just to see a little grief
From the comfort of his vacation home
Killing has never been so convenient
As playing with your little drones
Never having to see the looks upon their faces
Or see the pain behind their eyes
As you bomb them in their birthplaces
Deaf to their desperate cries
Blind to the atrocities of war
Of the millions dying on the floor
Their children crying at our door
Such unimaginable gore
The smell of burning flesh
Is something you'll never have to smell
Sending soldiers to clean up the mess
As you hide inside your shell

Tweeting at the top of your lungs
Demanding to be heard
Yet not a word of truth is sung

It would bring such great relief
Just to see a little grief
Author's Note
War is hell. It's such a shame to see such an advanced society regress to such an extremely low-point. With drone technology, war has become so depersonalized. The person is no longer a person, but a mere target on the screen. Use this joystick to aim, and this trigger to shoot. Attaboy! Just like Call of Duty, right? It doesn't even feel like you're killing a person anymore.
Although this IS focused around Donald Trump, it's more about the atrocities of war and the corruption of politics.

I really, really dig this.
War is evil.
Our President reminds me of the dude who stole Pee-wee Hermans bike in Pee-wees Big Adventure, I think his name was Francis in the movie. Pee wee confronts him while hes in a huge bathtub playing with plastic war ships.
Francis was a huge piece of rich spoiled shit.

Re: Re. Remote Control
Currently less military action since Carter, in fact...But, it was very terrible to watch the escalation from 2 wars to 7 and over 26,000 drone strikes, troops everywhere searching for Bin laden and invading Lybia and killing Gaddafi to stop his new currency the gold "Denar" from hitting Africa...by Obama/Hillary...it was even more sad to see Democrats never concerned...but now it is a white Republican..so..
War is evil...omission of war allows it to happen
I personally want the chief to pull us out of the entire middle east and shut down half of our international bases...that would be the more anti-war move

Nikki, you gave me a hearty laugh with that comment! That is a hilarious comparison! Haha! I remember that movie well, actually - the whole movie he is trying to get his bike back... which is why he confronts the guy to begin with. He's definitely got a chip on his shoulder and a silver spoon in his mouth. I see the parallels between the two 'villains'

I appreciate your take on the matter as well, runaway. I don't have everything figured out, but I know one thing. I don't like death... therefore, I don't like war!

It is the common people like all of us that are used to fight these evil wars...I say we collectively stop them...Your poem is great because you care about people and your heart wants to help...I try to do the same....

Sky,
It is indeed a broken system... reminiscent of gladiator games. The king sits back, entertained, while the peons fight the battle. The show you describe sounds very interesting... I may have to check that one out!
Thanks for your continued readership and support... it means a lot to me. It's always good to see you here :)

Re: Re. Remote Control
Thank you for your input, buddha. That is very true. The repercussions of war are bad enough... It's terrifying to think of what consequences of an all-out nuclear war might hold. We throw around bombs like they're toys, and yet... these are no toy soldiers.

Good luck... and don't strain your imagination too far lol. Perhaps if it involves his pocketbook, he may then show regret.

Innit funny how we feel somehow a little satisfied over grief experienced by perpetual grief generators. 🌹🍫

It is. As much as I try to keep that feeling at bay...
Although, sometimes it's nice to see someone 'get what's coming to them' as people say, I feel guilty about it. I don't think anyone should wish suffering on another, or worse, derive pleasure from another's pain. It just feels... dirty.
I do appreciate you stopping by again, Edible, it means a lot :)
You've been so supportive and sweet to me!
I hope all is well with you,

That rings so incredibly true... It is certainly easier for our leaders to start a war when they know they won't have to be on the front lines. Just deploy more troops, right? Cowardice...

Any sane person should agree with you. Well written, well felt.

You would think so... but there are many ignorant people who are still considered sane. I appreciate your kind compliments, Ammonite! Your wishful thinking made me chuckle. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Well said. I thought it was really well put together. I don't have much to say on it because you did it pretty well. Great job and way to put something a little controversial out there. War is evil so I'm glad to see you say it in such a great way

I'm so glad that this poem resonated well with you. It is certainly pertinent... as it's happening right in front of us. At this point, perhaps they would even scoff at my writing? Either way... here's to wishful thinking, Tim!

This has that dark vibe that I think quite honestly would be unavoidable while writing about the war honestly . And that recoccuring theme of the political pigs at the top who are immune to the suffering of millions across the globe that their choices effect Great descriptions, like you were writing it to Trump to get him to fathom wtf I actually going on in war time.

Just amazing NewB...and you have nailed it to the wall of the propaganda machines of our greedy consumer society and those that lead us in that direction.
