A Life Together (part-2)
She
brought up tri-lingual in a foreign land
spoke eight languages
and simultaneously translated other people’s dreams …
He
brought up in strange boarding schools
refined rough nuts and bolts
‘till they resembled acupuncture needles …
When they met (aged 40 and 41)
they slowly left behind
the nightmare shadows
of wars and missionaries
and wove gold
clothing themselves in creative possibilities,
establishing a new home
formed by two people looking in the same direction
brightly decorated
with open gratitude for each other,
and cultivated a garden of beauty
fruiting abundantly with loving-kindness.

Thank you Ely, and for the RL. Having experienced 'the other side' in a relationship long ago, I can still feel the contrast and am greatly appreciative how things turned out in the end.

If that is not great poetry then what is? Just an amazing poem Josh...full of love, hope and friendship. Bravo!

Thank you BK. I take that 'well done' as a nod towards being very fortunate and gracefully blessed - which I am in these last 20+ years.

Such tender tribute. Older I get, realisation 'we take love where we find it' is mere delusion. More a case of looking in the right place.

Thank you Rob; I agree. Looking in the right place is more likely to encounter a natural compatibility.

Thank you; that's so true - an open heart is a gateway to unexpected wonders and some kind of graceful action.

There is a harmonious sensitivity that emanates from your writing. I was not surprised by your writing philosophy, as described on the podcast. It is clear in the beautiful economy of your writes, nothing embellished or overblown, a purity of expression. Penultimate stanza was my favorite, it warms my heart and seems the crux of the piece. Thank you for sharing this touching piece about your life journey with us. 💖

Thank you Daniel for your erudite commenting and kind words again. The penultimate stanza was also pointed by Harry carrying something 'extra' - originally it sprang to mind thinking about when we had a weaving-studio in St Ives (artists colony, Cornwall, far south-west of Britain).

Dearest Josh, had read both parts and I too must say that this second one completes the picture with a lovely turnabout. You were fortunate, as your words state elsewhere, and blessed in a moment of vulnerability in your life. Starting fresh in a different land, with love and admiration for your treasured love. Life has been a blessing for you and sharing this beautiful spill deeply allows us to participate in your joy. No doubt you are a master of the word. Beautiful write my friend.
