An Expression of Love Turned To Shame

What I speak of is mostly speculation  
About how sex is treated within this nation
My theory begins at the base with education    
When children ask a not so polite question    
    
Adults screw their faces in consternation
Why is little Timmy asking of babies and gestation    
It is not prudent to teach such filth and demoralization      
It is the schools job    
But...
Don’t spark Timmy’s imagination!  
     
In the U.S, we preach the birds and the bees jargon      
Where in Europe children get an eyeful of 'titillation'    
Yet, they’re taught to view nudity from a different perspective    
Why is it here we treat sex like innocence annihilation    
     
The second hierarchy then gets pushed away    
Boys and girls relying on each other in dismay    
Cause the subject has been approached with such shame    
By the time they're teens and partakers in the game    
     
The slut shaming comes when a girl loses her worth    
By opening her legs, while the guy smiles with mirth    
Cause sex is a shameful process here in the states    
And men feel worthless if they choose to masturbate    
     
The system is corrupt and keeps us firmly in our place    
With men and women blinded by a feuding, gender hate    
Perhaps if we explained to a child that sex is needed    
Perhaps if we accepted ourselves as human we could exceed this    
     
But
So long as we’re stuck in our old ways of progression    
I fear what the future holds for the next generation    
Where porn is still illegal and so is prostitution    
I cringe at the ignorance shown towards the oldest profession    
     
For our children    
I pray this place will change    
Find where it has failed in teaching abstinence to perpetuate shame    
     
So one day they may wake to find a world filled with love    
Expressed however needed with whomever they covet
