The New York Marathon 2019
New York Marathon 2019
The excitement I felt was more than the illusion of its dream
Three hours forty-five minutes of blissful pacing, running
From the start of a chilly Autumn gunning
Mile twenty, legs feeling like jelly
Bib number hanging halfway off my jeweled belly
Exhausted, yet pushing a fatigue body beyond repair
Pedicure toes no more, plastered to my face, sweaty curly hair
Oh, those beautiful Kenyans with wings they fly by
Mile after mile, the grace found in their humble smiles
The sea of blues, red, cheering on the side lines
Tired, but I’m so proud of myself
That FIRE melody I did love the best
It carried me through as I played it over and over again
As my spirit became one with the caress of the wind
Thank you, my Heavenly father, as you placed determination under my feet
To have crossed the line and not walked away in mental defeat
Selah

Aww... thank you my love, I am stiff all over and very sore, the bottom of my feet are tender to the touch, my hair...wow... I need a stylist, like now, however, I took a long hot soaking, and then slept... I can eat real food now...yah..., say, would you like to share a Tofu soup with me on this chilly New York evening, oh, I'm sorry, thank you for the words of praise, and enjoy your evening as well

Echo Tenderloin. I add my own words:
Before - Go, girl!
After - Well done.
I have been doing early morning exercise runs at home (age 60 did you notice any/many older runners in NY?) nearly 3 months now but I will give myself 12 months before deciding to try any public runs.

Before - Go, girl!
After - Well done.
When you are in the last mile of any marathon, that is the hardest, and it is strange because not matter how many miles your sore and tired feet have pounded that pavement, the last mile is the crème of the crop, once you cross that finish line, and glance over at your time of completion... you feel like crying knowing you were at one with your body, in heart, mind, and spirit, feeling a since of an endorphin melancholy; looking at all the other runners still floating in you did and did not give.
Thank you for reading and then comment. Have a blessed Tuesday and yes there were older people of your senior blazing their marks, an older couple passed me
