Chained
At last you open your eyes
And much to my delight
My grinning face is the very first thing
Within your limited sight
"Where am I?" Is the first thing you said
A tremor in your voice
I sigh, I shake my head
"I'm sorry, you'd left me without choice
But there's no need to fret
I'm here to ensure you won't
Do something we would both regret"
"Please don't hurt me," your voice mere
"So that's why you believe
I've brought you here?
To inflict upon pain?
After all of this, I finally see
It was truly you who is insane"
"If not to bring pain, tell me why
Why am I chained to a heater?"
"We all have our flaws
And yours, my dear, is being a cheater"
You scream it's not true
But you can no longer lie
"I saw you last night
With my own naked eye
Although you'd never know
How quietly, how cunningly
I climbed to peer into your window
And when I saw that man
My mind couldn't comprehend
It couldn't begin to understand
I whispered to myself, there must be a mistake
I almost barged in to save you
Until I saw the advances you proceeded to make"
You say no words
As the tears begin anew
When you finally speak, you tell me
"I can't be with you"
I scoff at your foolishness
My face contorts in disgust
"I know we're not an item
I'm only asking for your hand in trust"
As your confusion surmises
The white hot rage building
Building inside of me rises
"You really are but a ridiculous girl
Why can't you understand
I only wish to protect you from the evil encasing this world?
Don't you see?
You became unsafe
The very moment you left me"
"Let me out of here!"
You thrash and you scream
This is going much worse
Than I had ever dreamed
I cup your face in my hands
"Please, please won't you
Just try to understand?
Try your best to see
You may be chained
But you're always free so long
As you're with me"

Takes courage to like this. It’s so dark and different. Liking it makes you see that dark side/admit that dark side of one’s self. Great write. Rose 1995: A real psychological thriller.
