Image for the poem The end of the dance

The end of the dance

When the dance ended and the music stopped
I wept the sorrows of my broken heart.
When the melodies ceased and no longer played
I was left in desolation, hidden and not displayed.

Now the songs are not sung
and the poetic lyrics are undone,
the inspiration that once glowed so bright
has become an abysmal darkness  in my life.

The chimera of affection faded,
dispelling an illusion created;
the void of  loneliness has returned
front and center, the position earned.
