Cleaning Out a  Drawer

You find things
Pictures from yesteryear
Manuals from an air conditioner
Work stuff you'll never need
Mostly everything can be shredded

Except the priceless

A picture of your Mom and sister
Anniversary cards from your wife
Funny drawings of my artist nephew
A eulogy written for my beloved dog Ginger

I wrote it 2 years ago
Delivered it in our favorite park
It was forthright and funny
Wry and serious

I had remembered most of it
When I got to the end I added something longhand
I read it again tonight "Goodbye my Champion"
Then I cried
