Remorse
He is racked with full remorse
So much to forgive
His past yet retains its influence
The many vices
Treachery
Negligence towards those he loves
It all echoes in the night
Down hallways of recollection
Still, he now vows to gaze ahead
Diminish tendencies that linger
The duplicity of his soul
His time may well be limited
But there is decency, his lasting goal.
So much to forgive
His past yet retains its influence
The many vices
Treachery
Negligence towards those he loves
It all echoes in the night
Down hallways of recollection
Still, he now vows to gaze ahead
Diminish tendencies that linger
The duplicity of his soul
His time may well be limited
But there is decency, his lasting goal.

We are all victims of our weakness, dear Thomas. No human being is exempt. And I'm sure that in different situations, we'd all avoid repeating ourselves, but one thing I know for sure is, that if the words of the gospel is true, then "much is forgiven to those who love much". You are a great soul my friend. The beauty of which is always present in your poetry. Beautiful ink my friend.

Thank you, J. You are correct: If one can avoid repeating past misdeeds there is hope for a cleaner, more worthy soul. I appreciate your thoughtful comment, and the support you offer. I still have much to atone for.

dearest Thomas I know well these similar feelings
when they haunt I pray to a being I am unsure of for guidance
or absolution...
hugs on a painful write...
love Brenda ❤

I suspect you will find your absolution, dear Brenda, if you haven't already. Thank you so much, and for the RL entry!

I agree with Juvenalis's comment above. Or if I dare put it this way, it's good to know you (with an eye to the rest of us) are fully human. {"We do the things we don't want to do, and don't do the good we want to do. Who will save me from this crazy situation?" - my roughly remembered translation of some words by St Paul}. You write for all of us; it's only a matter of degree, not essence.

You always bring such eloquence to your comments, Josh. "It's only a matter of degree, not essence." Thank you so much!

I think decency is all we can really ask for at the end of it all. Some concise thoughts here in such a short piece. Thank you for sharing.

The past has passed; and therein lies the answer to forgiving your self for things that cannot be undone !
We can only learn not to make the same mistakes twice.
So. Chin up, and keep moving forward; without the baggage of remorse weighing you down... T ! 🌹
