If Thirteen Gets you Forty, Take the Bet! - Sonnet Thirty-Nine
If thirteen gets you forty, take the bet!
‘Cause in this case, it’s damn-near a sure thing!
For centuries in deed these odds were set,
Though you will scream, “liberal posturing!
When “de facto” and “de jure” meet as one,
Oh wait, just let me dumb that down for you,
It means that both the facts and laws are spun
To make a crime of being the wrong hue.
I hear your hate in hater’s screams resist,
I would say that you can’t deny the facts,
But that’s precisely why the “crime” persists,
Because white screams its ignorant attacks.
So riddle me: with legal weed's advent,
How will you keep up your four-oh percent.
