Got me thinking about this all day
in the recesses of my conscious self.
Was it a slip of the tongue from
Your lips to my keen listening skills?
not one syllabled word tiny or heavy
escapes my petri-dish and microscope.
You said the word “ wife “ as a matter of fact.
Immediately,
my heart did summersaults
and my brain took me to the
Handfasting Ritual
I’ve dreamed of for this and
many past lives.
And now I find myself
Preoccupied………..
Wife
Life
Love

One of the most beautiful things a photographer can capture are unity rituals at weddings, from lighting candles to handfasting. What a beautiful poem this is, Tallen.

Handfasting is a simple, beautiful promise. This is silly but I've been awake for almost a day so anyways bear with me, your poem made me think of why I always choose the side of humanity over monsters or aliens or what not when I play an rpg video game. Haha.
Monsters, aliens, they may be glorious in their power or advancements in technology, but it is the simple beauty of art, of great achievements through cooperation, of dedication to one another, of endurance and compassion, that makes our people beautiful. I look at a metropolis and I try to imagine the sheer tandem efforts that went into so much construction. The cyclic time and effort of so many required to facilitate and sustain it, human beings are like the organs of the city and the buildings it's skeleton. Then, conversely, when I see people taking the time and making the effort to preserve and protect nature, which is so much more important, I feel that same sense of appreciation, but at a warmer depth.
The succinct quality of your poem perfectly frames the purity and depth of emotion expressed. I found it winsome.

Hand-fasting - last went to one of these beautiful ceremonies on the wild cliffs of Celtic Cornwall some 15 years ago. Time to start dream-planning and make one of your (plural) own.
