I Wish I Could

I wish I could eat my own words,
As if they’re truffles from the root.
The bonbons I pluck quickly blur,
Ambrosia I savor en croute

When you’re gone & I’m here alone,
I wish I could eat my own words.
I’ve no appetite for a stone,
How everything tastes so absurd.

If things could be different unheard,
I’d have you myself on a plate.
I wish I could eat my own words,
I’m wasting away at this rate.

If I could just have my own way,
I’d come back for seconds & thirds.
Until, you’re due back any day,
I wish I could eat my own words.
