Under the Influence

Clouded by prescription drugs
A pill for every occasion
But too many untoward side effects
Conspire to trap, and induce sleep

But there lies delight and vivid dreams
Intense beyond imagining
Subconscious realms are magnified
And I become the ruling king

Faces are sharply defined
Voices steeped with eloquence
And then, much to my pleasure,
They seldom turn to grotesquerie

Confused when I stir, awaken
A lack of magic in the air
I miss the many dormant thrills
Between walls of a darkened room

Then she comes and spreads her wings
A comfort or a delusion
An angel real, or another dream
I welcome her as she does seem.
