A Valentine
Far beyond the thunder clouds
We'll lie on sunny wooded slopes
And laugh and love as in our youth
Without the pain and broken hopes.
We'll lie on sunny wooded slopes
And laugh and love as in our youth
Without the pain and broken hopes.
Author's Note
I wrote these four lines for the Valentine's Day card that I gave to my wife in February last year. She has been recovering very very slowly from a painful and somewhat crippling illness that has badly disrupted her academic career for many years.

Thank you, Brenda, for your sympathy. My darling wife's recovery is dreadfully slow. She was bedridden in severe pain 28 years ago and very slowly improving since then. She will never be totally free of pain. I give her a Valentine's Day card every year, and usually try to find one that will make her laugh!

This is a beautiful tribute, Ammonite.
I shall keep both you and your wife in my prayers: her for healing energy and you for strength.

That's a very kind thought. Yes, she is getting better but it is taking years not just months.
