Image for the poem fire light

fire light

in the fairy mist, I first saw her
playful minx full of fire
she stirred the air and all nature hushed
the Queen had entered the realm of the fey

long away among the mortals
doing good deeds and spreading cheer
she, at last, returned to walk among her kinfolk

the trees stoic and old
hold her memories and keep her secrets
they whispered she's home
with the rustling of their leaves
they tell her story

the fairies giggled
despite the stern glare of the sun
who admonished them
this was an important occasion

I sat among the ferns watching her silently
her magic was thick in the air
a spell was cast over me
her laugh was infectious
I smiled with my whole self
when the King of the realm presented me to her

you saw me through gentle eyes
overlooking my flaws
tender and loving

a nurturer of joy
it is your secret gift
you hide its flame in your sacred halls
so no matter the wind of turmoil blowing
it never goes out
it stays inside
sacred

you smile at me
I see the sun in your eyes
you are a being of pure beauty

all of nature rejoices with me
the Queen has returned
let the fairies make merry
