The Fountain Of Youth
The Fountain of Youth
Is there such an equation to this truth
As we are born, we are surely to die
Trying to find vitality with commercialism potion is a bold face lie
Baby skin dusted with powder
Soft skin cuddled couldn’t make our parents prouder
Our teenager years we take the world by storm
Liberation views of presence from society is the norm
No make-up used to conceal any imperfections
No age defining objections
No Botox injections
For an already youthful complexion
Still catching eyes with several male selections
I’m over twenty-one now
Skin still tight, wow
I look in the mirror knowing I can still score
Thank goodness no enlarged sunken pores
A little lipstick here maybe eye shadow there.
Facial features to a model I certainly can compare
Time is slightly catching up with me
I need a little facial assistance from the powers that be
Oil of Olay for an eye bag or two
Frighten now to tell my age since it’s now considered taboo
Not to the throne as of yet
Of dying my hair from a shadowing gray, back to a silky brunet
Getting much older
Skin beginning to sag much bolder
My youthful appearance was once my policyholder
Now the looks I get now feels like a cold shoulder
A look from a male’s eyes
Has turned to a dethroned demise
I was once beautiful with a natural skin tone that was very tight
I’m at the counter now fighting the reflection in the mirror who’s telling me I’m still a catchy eyesight
The facial appearance of my adolescence is so far gone
They say beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and ugly is to the bone
I wonder what beholder’s cup this person has been sipping on
No more evening knocks at my door
No more beautiful vanity to adore
We all know father time does not keep scores
As you age, who you see, is who you get
No makeup you wear could attempt to hid a zit
It saddens me now when no one asks for an ID to permit
Let’s just all admit
Aging is a revolving conflict
Some of us must tackle with remedies or eventually we submit
People say age is nothing but a number to define
Yes, it is, the sign of times
For the glories moments you’ve enjoyed using your youthful mind
Not a worry in the world about visible fine lines
Not buying into the profit making schemes of aging using your dime
However
Since forever seems to be never
This poem is written for whomever
Gone are the secret admires
Sitting by the fireplace inflaming someone’s desire
You age gracefully? Someone is a boldface liar
You age, but gracefully I think not
I think we women should just boycott
The promise made to prolong our youthfulness found in a bottle
Whoever is pushing this concept to woman needs a new role model
Therefore, what’s a girl to do
With all these anti-wrinkle age creams I now must pursue
Facelift and injections with Botox
Other cures some not even orthodox
Love your beauty no matter what age
The essence of time we could never gage
Allow the book of your heart within to be your title page
Once opened facial features will not be read or could never be upstaged
No longer flaming the fire of the Peter Pan syndrome outrage
