Safe Haven

Dedicated To Mr. New York from your Phillygirl

Poem Inspired
By the Lyrics of I Need You
By
LeAnn Rimes

God, I can’t lie, I’ve missed you so much
No words mean more to me then admitting that as such
With you around, my emotions tenderly bleed
As you mentally feed that beautiful need
Love between us can and will succeed
Your air is like oxygen to my brain
Through the wisdom of your eyes, I see no pain
Only knowledge one inspires to gain

Yes, I’ve strayed from the flock
Tick Tock, for someone else who had a key to my inner lock
Heart, now feels like it’s been frozen in an ice block
Wandering through the forest looking for your shining light
Yet, so shameful to come back to make things right
Now out here losing precious sight
If I were to knock on your door
Will you tell me, no K, no more

Will you offer me a side of your bed
My heart, there you once so beautifully led
Confusion at times, is clouding the judgment within my head
Your blanket of warmth, when the stress of patients gets me down
Blinders on, now when I look around
Close my eyes, no heard sounds
From the teacher to the student
Such a confession, to admit for someone who is prudent

Yet relentless to be content
Emotionally spent
Cries from a crib deafness to hear
A beautiful planned upcoming year
Replaced by reminisce of tears
I’m lost and it’s cold out here…and I’m all alone
Lust, desire, passion, the trilogy of my makeshift song
I want to come back home

It’s time for me to retire this tidal wave of being an infamous hit
I only need your internal heart bliss
Home, love, kids
I need a safe haven
For my unscrupulous misbehaving
A place to mentally rest
Your arms, have always been my safety nest
Just for a little while
Until my heart has enough strength to soar once again over the blue lagoons of the Nile

Where my mind can drift miles for miles
I can whisper softly in your ear once again
Words, so serene had my days upbeat as they begin
Reach out, I hope time is not too late
I refuse to be the demise of my own charismatic fate
This I do not ever anticipate
However, I need you at any rate
“I’m sorry…it seems to be the hardest word”

In times of crisis, different people react in different ways. Some might try to escape. Others might attempt to batten down the hatches and ride out the storm in a safe haven.
