There’s a Certain Slant of Light ( after Emily Dickinson )
There’s a certain Slant of light
as Eventide crests –
Kyanite empyrean
O’re its flaming breasts
Deep repose, it doth evoke –
Diminished to hour
Recalling – Memory extols
‘Neath shady bower
Life’s bounty, freely gathered
– What may be found –
Laid before a lambent throne
Our daily accounts!
But, Woe! – What penalty doth wait
‘pon crepuscular siege
Of Outer Darkness eternal –
Should no fruit be reaped?

Thank you, Shannon. Much appreciated.
That is a beautiful color indeed, and rarely seen.

If I get the gist of Emily D's poem correct, she writes of feeling caught up within the grand scheme of events and is reminded of her place; temporary as that certain slant of light.
Your homage impressive in its own slant on hers reminds us that we are creatures not just of light, but of darkness as well. One could not exist without the other; nor would the colors of the world. We are here to experience it all without allegiances to any religion or institution, yet are accountable for our own actions in a shared environment that tends to be plundered in first come first served or finders keepers fashion. 📝❤
Read to children, which of them would know this wasn't a lost poem of Dickinson's?

I do not know the original poem but yours strikes a profound chord and I'm reminded we should take nothing for granted.

Wild nights wild nights
In poetrys crests
Loosen thy fruit
Sail, Crow's nest
may i, drop anchor
In thy firey breasts!

This piece make me want to read an Emily Browning book I bought and have not got around to reading yet.I thoroughly enjoyed that 3rd stanza -
"Life’s bounty, freely gathered
– What may be found –
Laid before a lambent throne
Our daily accounts!"
well penned, and to respond to your epic tribute to history piece..
"Abhor what I've sown!
perpend upon thee quaint,
retire to the similar.
-cursed with my transgressions-
this life is ravenous,
alloweth us retireth to the wolves."
