Aesop'ian Verse for the Strays.

Gather my friends! Let me spin you a story!
With intrigue deluxe, and details so gory.
Pain, deception, loss and passion.
Quite an interesting tale, from a very dark passage.

Not long ago, indeed it is true.
Lived a pretty young mouse, a youthful shrew.
This mouse loved a rat who protected his so fair.
His only crime was love. Beyond all compare.

But the mouse loved to scurry and hide in the corners.
The rat, wiser, did try to warn her.
But she scampered and strayed.
Poor sweet rat betrayed.

A youthful mistake, did the vision change.
Anyone could tell it wasn't strange.
But how heavy had the lonely rat wept.
When he saw his dear mouse stuck in the trap.

Of course I mean this as Aesop taught me.
It's metaphorical, spoken in versatility.
A chapter of a book to remain closed.
There are always consequences to the paths we chose.
