Mother

M - M is for mother. The matriarch, for you are the keeper of our home, our hearts, our joys, and our pains. You have always been there for me in my life through all the losses and gains. I could not imagine a world without you and I am truly blessed to have come from your womb.

To Whom! else does this adoration, respect, and love go to...none other than you mom.

O - Is for optimism because you know no failure. You stand in the face of fear, you flourish in the unknown, and you are the conqueror of your challenges and enemies. You have an air omnipresence to your children, because you are always a phone call away with open ears and heart.

As I get lost in the sea of my mind through hills, valleys, trials, tribulations, worry, depression, you are always the lifeboat of rescue and wisdom.

You are official ! In all that you do and your dreams and ambitions always come true, as you see them through.

T - is for triumphant! A follower of Christ and just as Victorious you triumph over ever milestone and hurdle. Any stone in your path uprooted, every locked door open, Mom you make it happen! I have no idea how. No seriously how do you do it?

You know school taught me a lot of things and I learned that word triumphant along the way. But you lived it! You breathed it and you walked it. Violet you are triumph and I love every minute of that about you.

H - is for Happy. I have never seen you any other way. Your joy cannot be stolen, and you are as Merry as a Beautiful Christmas with Dominos and Ludi.

For those that don't know, Ludi is just a popular board game played in Jamaica. You know, but just as easily as we hop around a ludi board, is how easily your heart hops for joy when you see your family, well fed, having a great time. Your happiness is a model for everyone to strive for. As a woman of God you have really showed me the deep peace and joy you can only get with a divine presence in our lives.


E - is for Extraordinary. Your vision is powerful. You make lay waste to the concept of average and you leave a path behind you not for the faint of heart. Violet you are extraordinary. You are the alpha among the heard, the creme of the crop, you are the chef among the cooks, you are warmth amidst the ice. You are extraordinary mom and it's amazing to be apart of that aura. I couldn't be more thankful. You know we were never born to be average, and you are proof of that. There is no sky for you, simply heavens.

R - is for Resilient. You've told me many stories of your adventures and journeys coming to this country and building a life here for your family. The risks and you've taken are nothing short of bold, your character is a goddess of a woman and your shoes are a challenge to fit. You simply never quit, you are more family with success and stranger to failure. Resilience runs in your blood, pulses through your veins, it is the fuel for your existence, and the companion to your persistence.

V - is for Violet the Victorious! Violet the regal! the color of royalty! What more can we say for such a woman like you mom? What words can be enough to encapsulate your elegance, grace, beauty, and love. Mom has never been a loser! She pushes through fires of negativity and extinguishes them with her own violet flame of Victory and Royalty. What a blessing it is to be named Violet, a name that will live on in all of our hearts because of the impact she has made on us and how she has touched us in unique was. Violet, remember her name, honor it, embrace it, love it, respect it, cherish it. I know I do :)

I is for intelligent. You've used your wits and you've figured out what you needed to in a completely foreign land. I remember growing up in a small apartment with you and dad, a growing child care business. I would come home to play pens and small children. I never stopped to think about how did you figure this out? How did you know you could do this? Self-employed right out the gate. Your sheer brilliance is what makes our family what it is today and I couldn't be more proud of what you have done.

O - is for Opulent. You've always had a taste for the finer things in life. That just shows you are a true queen. You've always gone for the elaborate theme, the grand bed, the nice this, nice that. I mean, it wasn't hard choosing our theme for tonight because it fits you just right. A queen that knows what she wants and knows she deserves it. That is you mom, born of royalty.

L - for loving. You love in so many ways, of which my favorite is your food and cooking. I'm sure there are some among you that have experienced Mom's love this way too ;)  You have always been a giver, someone who lives and strives towards agape (unconditional love). It's such a beauty to behold this from within you and if anyone doesn't believe in divinity, a higher power, or God all they have to do is experience you and your love and they'll have an idea.

E - is for Excellence. Mom you excel on all fronts. It has been a strong value instilled upon our family. You were never one to settle for nothing less than the best. You used to get on my nerves growing up because you never allowed B's. Little did I know you were molding me into something I could not comprehend at the time. Anyone that knows you knows that you are a champion among champions and you are a light that blinds, a light that inspires. You put the best forward in anything you do and that sets you apart. That is a millionaire mindset and you have it.

T - is for Truth. Violet is a woman of truth you always do what is right and just. Of all my years of being your son, you have been a woman worthy of the highest honor and praise because you paved the way of what it meant to be a person of integrity and truth. You have taught me to be honest, to not cheat, and not to short-change myself for anyone, company, or person. I truly value and love you for that.
