Message From a Bottle🍾
The journey lasted months by ship,
Each night the sea would surge
As passengers would lurch & tip,
Their gills, turned green, regurged.
My mates & I in stoic stance
Along the upper deck,
As two abreast we’d look askance,
Each customer a wreck.
Yet on this one particular,
Bartender reamed a glass.
No passenger was at the bar
And no one on deck passed.
I felt my liquor’s amber flush
As ocean made it known,
Was time to jump ship in the rush
Into the great unknown.
I heard the crash some of my mates
Thrown up against the hull.
Their bottled contents’ raining fate
Among the cry of gulls.
I was among the very few
Embraced between the waves,
The many colored rainbow hues
A lifeboat came to save.
I’m still the best in bourbon scotch,
In Adelaide a year.
For service you can set your watch,
It’s hot as Hades here.
Each night the sea would surge
As passengers would lurch & tip,
Their gills, turned green, regurged.
My mates & I in stoic stance
Along the upper deck,
As two abreast we’d look askance,
