IF ONLY FOR A MOMENT
I knew coming into this, it wasn’t going to be easy.
But I decided you were worth the time
Then every time I looked into your eyes, saw your face, or heard your voice
I put that thought right out of my mind.
The quickening of my heartbeat
As we took our many chances
For clandestine meetings,
Secret phone calls and stolen glances
I can’t tell you how I made it through
All the days and nights we spent apart
It’s all just a big blur now
Other than the pain I felt in my heart
It’s not the fact that you weren’t with me
But knowing you were with her
That caused me so much misery
And made me want to scream and curse
How could I be so stupid
To fall in love with another woman’s man
The one with whom you shared a home with
The one whose ring you wear on your hand
You constantly tell me not to worry
And stop listening to what everyone have to say
Stop telling all my family and friends
All of our business from day to day
You say that you could never hurt me
And that you love me very much
