Deceit

 



I’ve seen and heard of
Love that kills
Never in my mind
Thought it would touch my life
 
But it has
 
It came to me in the form of
A handsome face
A silly smile
With eyes, so brown as to make the color die of envy
 
My mind and heart
Had no chance
Smitten with a glance
 
The smile
A lie
The eyes
Deceitful
The handsome face
Ravaged with time

My heart just another toy
To play with and
Discard
 
Over and over I
Allowed myself to believe
The lies
 
But now,
The bruises to my soul
Are harder to
Hide
 
Seems I waited my
Whole life for an equal to my
Passion
 
Only to come face to face
With the true wielder, of
his ardor, her name:
ADDICTION
