Dear Me

Little crab, do you know how far you'll go?
I didn't either when I was your age
It was a big step for me to go into the unknown
But it was better than being trapped in a cage.

I know exactly how you felt when you looked out across the sea
You wondered if you would ever make it to the other side
I'm not quite there, but I'm a lot closer than it seems
Be prepared because it'll be one hell of a ride.

I'm sorry to say that you'll be disappointed and betrayed
There will be times where you'll wonder if you made the right choice
Take it from me, don't bottle up the pain
Trust in yourself and in the power of your voice.

Despite the bumps on the road, there's hope as well
The angels have told me that 2018 is the year of renewal
Little by little you'll learn to come out of your shell
A certain someone will visit your mind often, and it may surprise you.

You may believe yourself to be weak, but you're the strongest person I know
You're a stubborn crab; use your claws to hang on!
Trust in yourself and don't take as an answer"no"
Your instincts will tell you what's right and wrong.
