Death, Our Only Destiny?
Kill the guardians
fuck nature out of kilter
up to our ass in
our own humanity?
Perhaps from the darkness
an earth shattering event
savior from ourselves
Maybe the dinosaurs got off easy.

Author's Note
Pondered thoughts to effect, where no answers lie yet
just lies, self told I hopes, from narcissistic dopes,
kicking the can further down the slope,
praying our precipice comes with a rope.

Perhaps from the darkness
an earth shattering event
savior from ourselves...
Great lines Amorous_Tryst
Earth will only take so much of humanities greed
I really don't see any other species here that's remotely close to doing the same
I really, really hope that we accept ourselves for who we really are when it kicks back

I fear we have become so self absorbed that we will not see our
folly even when the end is reached, clamoring for a scapegoat,
for surly we are not at fault, it must be someone else.
Thanks, Rose, always nice when you visit.

Yep exactly my sentiments
Many save us save us moments to come
But more the save us from ourselves me thinks

Dinosaurs became birds, they got off easy. Humans shrank from giants and wrapped their thoughts, getting off easy. Next we have a true extinction event and will all get off easy.
Love your poem.

Mass extinction would be my preferred exit given the excruciating
death mankind faces if it doesn't change it's way.
Appreciated is the visit and comment, Daibach.

The accompanying video gave me chills to watch while contemplating your penned thoughts...
I do unfortunately believe it is too late for humanity to tame itself, so much disrespect towards the planet has already become the habit of too many with too much power. What hope lies in the hands of the commoner, when at this stage of the play it would take a complete unity of humankind to try to right our wrongs?
This also reminded me of the movie Melancholia - https://youtu.be/fcZWZhUozr4
Thank you for sharing AT, very deep.

I ran across the video while searching for a photo to go with the piece, and yes, certainly chilling. But, hey, with all our
technology they'll give us plenty of warning time to go hide in the closet or under the bed.
As to changing our ways, I fear even if the right people to make the needed changes were in charge, we'd probably fight them tooth and nail, for it would inconvenience us is some way and we'd just continue kicking the can further down the road, letting our future generations suffer the brunt of what we're too selfish to accomplish.
Thank you, nbb, for weighing in.

A profound piece of wisdom
that stopped me in my tracks(not the ones you wear to bed)!
Teri,
indeed, perhaps the dino's got off lightly. But what do we do of the Dino's that are in charge now?
perhaps though unfortunate, an Earth shattering even might knock some sense in to the present Dino's in power.
Our government had argued tooth and nail to fight the attempts at rectifying the damage to climate- their argument- others are doing it too, our stopping won't matter anyway! Far out! the ass holes happy to give tax cuts to multi billion dollar polluters but happy to close down women's abuse victims shleters (that only costs a miniscule fraction of the billions they gave away in tax- cuts) saying we need to repair the budget. And how about placing open climate skeptics as the head of EPA?
brave ink dear Friend!!
my RL is full, but i know what'snext on it!!

First and foremost, you know any RL is not necessary
for it will remain here until the site is no longer.
Just scribble the poem name, date and author on
the bottom of your Trax and walk on air from now on. :-)
Now as to government decisions on any matter, it has
pretty much become a "whose in office at the time"
process, with neither side willing to compromise due to
constituent and political donor pressure coupled with
the "I need to protect my job" syndrome. It has gotten
so bad, that nothing is getting done that really has deep
long lasting affects, more akin to bouncing the ball
back and forth with each change in administration.
I personally feel congress should be in charge of
making these types of policy, not the head of some
agency that is appointed by the then current president.
But, if that were the case, and still nothing is being
accomplished, then is it not incumbent on the voters
to get those in congress, out of office by voting means?
Sorrowfully, it is the populace (we, the people) who are
responsible for seeing that happens, yet we are too
busy with video gaming, "reality TV" watching, or
whatever else we can find that tickles our fancy at the time,
thus avoiding what needs to be done.
I know my friend will respect my view the same as I
respect his, even when they differ on the path to be
taken, though both have the same destination in common.
Thank You C_f, your visits and comments are always
appreciated.
Now, where's my fiddle?, before the fire reaches me.

"no mercy" where none is due.
Apt sentiment, none deserved now, and if future generations do not learn from our ineptness in caring for what we have been gifted, then none then either.
Truly appreciate your input, audioharleea.

sad to say I believe it is too late - the horse has bolted - some silly fucker left the gate open - I believe that nature will select us for extinction from that we are not immune and mankind deserves it.
I really like your poem much :-))))))

I fear we're both right and pray we are both wrong.
Another thing I'm sure we agree on
So happy to keep this streak going, David!
Thx much, my friend. :-)))

Such truths you speak. Mother Nature is a strong force and will evolve. Sadly, I fear humanity will not survive the fury that will accompany her adaptation. Very well penned.

Using logical collation, I envision our plight becoming darker and darker, with each poor decision we as a species make regarding how we use, yet at the same time, maintain our plant and the resources it provides, not just for us, but for all it's inhabitants. Without some major changes in our thought process, I fear the earth will bury us in the very coffin we are constructing.

I find that being shattered ends up being about the best thing that can happen. Out with the old, in with the new. We're the dinosaurs now, their spirits, because otherwise the world would be full of dinosaur ghosts and that would just be untenable. :P Enjoyed this.

Yes, recycling the old, isn't proving to be of much help. Sooner or later you end up with rust, slush, and dinosaur mush.
Truly enjoyed your visit.
