Renounce this renegade: reclaim the pursuit of happiness
Today we write the fires
flickers of revolution
in hungry unsettling canvas eyes
of the poor pick pocket
downtrodden
aching joints
young and old alike
determined
to right the wrong reigning tyrants of yesterday
mothers and fathers
yearning for change
Gender Equality
where European countries such as Iceland and Norway
blaze as the front runners for equal pay
decision-making gender biases
breaking walls of education and literacy down
choices for abortions, not shunning
Civil Rights
protect individuals' freedoms
without discrimination or repression
black lives, white, brown, let us all stop bickering
let our identities be our own
and proud
stand united for a future worth fighting
Drug Cartels
trafficking operations
falcons being the eyes and ears
Lieutenants and lords
carrying out assassinations
blood on main street
kidnapping
the dope in our children's veins
Sex Slave Trade
child sexual exploitation
Forced prostitution and sex tourism
comfort battalions of the Japanese
red light district in Amsterdam
when will our appetites be satisfied
War
woke us like the sleeping giant
among artillery and mortar rounds
clawing across the gas chambers
our atrocities out weigh our arrogance
forgetting we live underneath the same skies
turn your barrels to the ground
curiosity to the heavens high standards
realize
what monsters we've become
crimes
against humanity
as cards we can trade
rise with brothers
and sisters
help
not hurt these homestead holidays
hitching a ride to better bazaars
diverse
let us die with foundations
in hearts
so bold to help
or forever doomed to repeat antiquity
