Whispers
the silence spoke
& made me weep
with its knowledge
having witnessed
each moment
since the beginning of dawn
a new born's first breath
heard by the quiet
& recorded
a widow's tears
captured
& kept dear
the man she grieves
waits for her
inside the silence
her pain
his cross to bear
it speaks of the gods mistakes
as they yawn
& stretch to evolve
the silence grins
& gives me a wink
with a nod I tell it to proceed on
the atrocities of war
as man seeks to conquer
the silence sheds a tear
& it shudders
each death felt by this entity
capable of feeling
not the void I once thought
it cries with them
as their spirits move onward
I tell it of the pain deep within my soul
the heaviness of silence
I can carry no more
so I whisper its secrets on the wind
hold still
the silence speaks
are you listening?
