this place is a monster
eating every shred
of viable emotion
snaking and enslaving

when you cannot hide
cannot stay sheltered
from the real world
society’s sickness
we cannot unfurl
though weary
we must take heed
step forward from
your constructs
stand tall in spite
claim your self
responsibilities
be the change
 
there comes a time
in everyone’s life
to leave
the past behind
lay rest to
false identities
raise your head
in noble pursuit
