Sometimes

I worry about Karma;
how I played God
due to circumstance
without asking once
what they wanted for themselves

Sometimes

I worry about your thoughts;
feel you're going to take
choice out of my hands
if you think too much

Play God, conclude what's best
for me and my Life
Which you may decide
isn't You due to circumstance

Like a responsible bird
after I'm hatched, push
me out of the nest
watch my feathers flailing
in tall grass, coax me
within inches of insects
until experienced

Lure me into safety
of underbrush, strengthen
my wing-span into flight
upon lower branches
of Myrtle and Dogwood

Leading ever upward
into Angel Oaks of
Southern Plantations
towering over History
facing Northbound

Where, as a God
you've flown
taking my choice

Without asking once
what I Loved or wanted most
in the World

~
