Wind of harsh kisses

I wet my lips; I utter somber confessions of adversity,
rending the sun and it's downturned beams hostile ruins
upon the rough edges of my intolerant flesh.

My naked thoughts rove about,
reduced to so much dust that lament
is an agony of sabulous tears.

I follow my soldier's footprints down plundered streets
lined with fallen stars and paved in the splinters of forsaken hearts.
There's a woman like me on every salacious corner,
blowing us kisses from Russian red lips.

I sway to the descant made upon our names and denounce
my slumbering emotions. Love is cruel, but I am only flesh.
Every time you place your hand upon my cheek
and in my hair, you'll feel a trembling in your side
where God took your rib to make me.
