I remember thinking most of those things at a young age except the last lines. When you're different, it's not easy to exist in a world that relies heavily on conforming and where acceptance is only gained if you fit the mold. And sadly, it can make one question themselves. I still have some of that even as an adult, but I'm mostly content with my individuality, just every now and then, the difference can get to me because of that disconnect. It is always sad when people choose violence as a way to deal with their feelings. I think what you've described here is part of the mindset of a school shooter (my interpretation) but I do think there are other factors too.

I don't disagree with a single word here - in my mind the person in the poem would not become a school shooter in deed, only in his head :-)

Loneliness and depression are a result of our current society where most communication happens online... there's not much left of a community feel! Many are feeling this way, so to answer one of your questions: no, it's not you!
