Forest Fathers (Spring bounty)
Woodland sunlight shrouding fields,
Season's bounty soon revealed!
Forest father greeting morning
his branches clasping canopy,
Earthen mother wakes warm with moss
wrapped inside her sanctuary.
Sovereign raptors keeping guard
soar above the cliffs and streams,
below the yawning creatures sleep
safely tucked in wind-song dreams.
Chirping crickets spill on hillsides
thickets filled with wildflowers,
burrowing hares seek furrowed knolls
haven from soaking showers.
Grasping grasses bend in breeze
before boughs of fallen cedars,
outcrops clogging coursing creek
forming dipping-pools for beavers.
Floundering fins are filling streams
as shadows flash the fish are gone
brown bears gleaming with famished eyes
awaiting what the water spawns.
Night descends on forests resting
Earth caresses her golden fields,
creatures sense new birth abounding
the season's bounties soon revealed.
