Trying
We have tried capitulation
And the slow erosion of our rights
We totally relinquished control
Swiftly becoming society’s doormat
We bathed in oils of appeasement
We smoked the herbs of submission
We’ve yielded, we’ve succumbed
To your power we’ve become resigned
We were told giving up was the thing to do
Letting go of our perceived privileges
Having done so left us with nothing
Having done so left us with no one
For no good reason we declared surrender
We unfurled and flew the white flag
We gained absolutely nothing
There must be something we can do
To save what we used to be
Rather than what we are becoming
Here’s something we haven’t tried
Since World War II
Let’s for a change try
FIGHTING BACK!
