Inescapable

Flashes of fire in chilling darkness haunt my sleep
Overwhelming fear sets in.
My body trembles
My fists are clenched
Then it begins, a rush of emotions.
Regret of all the intentional wrongs,
along with harmful elements candidly ignored.
I crumble to my knees in despair,
unable to escape, my plea begins for mercy...


Be gentle and understanding is all that I ask,
peel away the unreal that is my mask.
Scavenge my heart and find what is real,
rip away the layers and break down my walls.
I cannot be worthy to stand in your wake,
be blind to the damaged for my personal sake.
My expression infused with a silent scream of distress
I yearn for you to hear me
I pray the genuine in my cry reaches.


Abruptly my eyes unfasten swollen with tears,
realization of whats in store within them.
Sweat drips down my back as a painful reminder,
piercing my soul with ease.
I gingerly lay my head down,
to await the reality that is to come.
I hide my knowledge deep inside,
saddened to think even with it,
I will not change and will not hide.
