POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Be true to yourself
When a feeling's beginning to stir in your soul
In whispers it hints "there's something you should know"
It distracts and pesters 'til you hear it's voice
It says "you can't ignore me, I'm not here through choice"
"you can choose what you feed me and what to let show
But you cannot decide what goes on below,
If you hide me away I will simply mutate
You won't recognise me in my disguised state"
"If I am your anger - I'll apply pressure to your heart,
If I am your sadness - I'll sting in the dark,
If I'm...

Little Jem
She was seven years old, tiny and pretty,
Mischievous, adventurous, friendly and witty.
She told me her dad was not allowed near,
The police and the courts had said so last year.
We were too young to understand what she told me that day,
But I held her hand and wiped a tear away.
He'd sealed her fate with those monstrous acts,
never again would she find her way back.
All our days felt like summer, we'd climb every fence,
We'd look after stray dogs (looking back, that makes sense...)
Her mother was nowhere, never seemed to care,
That...

"It's alright for you, you're his favourite"
"Mummy, where's my Daddy gone?"
"I sent him away, he bullies my sons"
"Sisters, why treat me that way?"
"Daddy ignores us, to you he's OK"
"Brothers, I asked Daddy to take you along instead,
He told me you can't be bothered to get out of bed"
"Mummy, please love me? Give me a grin?"
"Sorry little one, you remind me of HIM"
"Daddy where are you? nobody here likes me,
They blame me and shun me and clearly despise me!
Take me to live with you over the water,
I promise I'll...

D.R.own me
Imagine me naked, as you often do
Pin me down with the soles of your polished shoes
At the bottom of the tank I lay face down and compliant
Your Blackberry beeps - It's an important client
Pace my back as you would the floor
Scuff my flesh and make it sore
Pack your case and lay it on my thighs
Remember! to forget me, you must avert your eyes
Have a drink, that'll make you blind
Open the bottle and pour it over my behind
Place your scanner and printer across my shoulder blades
Use both your laptops to hold down my waist

A poem made of song titles
Remember when there was only one love,
In the velvet morning, on the wings of a dove.
My north country boy, the good old days,
Into my arms, what a wondrous place.
We were so young, it was us and us only,
Lets stay together 'cause love is the key.
Late in the day we were walking on the moon,
at daybreak we were dazed and confused.
The drugs don't work & things change,
I was begging you, it's hard to explain.
And then, the hardest thing in the world,
The bitterest pill for your brown eyed girl.
Your red eyes &...

I can still dream
With you a dream I'd like to share,
Right or wrong I do not care.
A part of 'us' I cannot hold,
Came back to me in shades of gold.
It was sweet and loving,
Honest and true.
I miss it so,
And so do you.
In front of my mirror you stood half dressed,
The top half... Oh, and your socks, I guess,
You put on your tie in the early dawn,
I watched your ass from behind a yawn.
You winked at me and gently said,
'Morning Babe, how's your head?'
I smiled and groaned as I rolled over,
Freeing myself from under the cover.
