Voices
Disjointed doppler of my mind,
swirling vid' clips behind eyes
connect with fatherless sounds
of orphaned dreams.
The haunting cacophony
of voices as thunder calling names,
endless rain touching souls,
seeing no peace for as long as
it needs to be heard:
'Put out your cigarette.'
'Why?'
'Get out of the car!'
'Get down!'
'Please, get off me.
I can't breathe... I can't breathe...'
'Hands up!'
'Don't shoot!'
'STOP!!'

Thank you, John. Yes, it does seem so. Remember that young man who sat in with a whole congregation of black church worshipers during their entire service. Then, when it was over, he got up and started shooting... killing parishioners. It was the survivors of those who died who said that about the assailant, that they forgave him. This takes a very strong commitment in one's faith. I honestly don't know if I would have the strength.
